Jahr Trulla

Hof Butenland is a farmed animal sanctuary. We rescue and provide lifelong care for animals that have been saved from slaughter, neglect, exploitation and abuse. Hof Butenland is their lifetime home now. Číst dále >>> Přeložit do en

Pika Pika Rescue

Flanked by five big bulls from whom she was seeking protection having lost her mother, poor Pika Pika cut a tiny figure next to her 'bodyguards' as they walked across the open plains in September 2019. While her protectors offered her much needed security from predators, they couldn’t offer her milk – something she desperately needed to avoid starvation at the height of the dry season. Luckily her presence was spotted by a Wildlife Works pilot and on confirmation that she was milk-dependent and without her mother, KWS requested that we mount a rescue. The wheels were set in motion and this young calf was brought into the care of our nearby Voi Reintegration Unit. From Voi, two year old Pika Pika will, when grown, be able to reintegrate back into the wild and, perhaps one day, she will reunite with members of her lost family. Right now though, our focus is on her well-being and following recent rains, she is enjoying an abundance of lush grasses and thriving in the company of the dependent Voi orphans.
