Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun, an 18-year-old Saudi teenager who fled alleged family abuse, landed in Toronto, Saturday. Al-Qunun accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada Chrystia Freeland went out to briefly greet journalists. Freeland commented on Al-Qunun's state, saying that the girl was "obviously, very tired after a long journey and she prefers to go and get settled." Earlier this week Rahaf Mohammed al-Qunun barricaded herself in a Bangkok airport, fleeing her family during their holidays in Kuwait. As the girl was refused entry to Thailand, she barricaded herself in the transit area posting tweets claiming that her life was in danger. After two days, the teen was allowed to enter Thailand with the help of the UN Refugee Agency. Initially intending to request asylum in Australia, Al-Qunun chose Canada due to faster procedure after country's Prime Minister Prime Minister Justin Trudeau granted her asylum. Al-Qunun's family denies the claims of abuse.
