Frustrated by social injustices and police brutality plaguing communities across America, Charlane Oliver shares an inspiring personal story about how she channeled her anger into action to launch The Equity Alliance (TEA) shortly after the 2016 presidential election to increase voter engagement in communities of color. Using statistics and personal anecdotes, she takes us on an emotional journey of how The Equity Alliance's successful impact on electoral politics helped move Tennessee from 50th to 1st in early voting turnout. Charlane Oliver is the Founder and Board President of The Equity Alliance, a non-profit organization focused on empowering people of color to use their voting power as a weapon in the fight for social justice. A public relations strategist by trade, Charlane currently serves as a congressional aide for U.S. Congressman Jim Cooper. Her organization's accomplishments have been featured in The Tennessean, Tennessee Tribune, ThinkProgress, and Pew Charitable Trust's Stateline. She has been recognized as one of Nashville's 100 Leading African Americans and is a Nashville Black 40 Under 40 award recipient. A native of Little Rock, Arkansas, Charlane earned her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx Číst celý článek >>> Přeložit do en
