McConnell spoke at a press conference in Lausanne on Wednesday. "The executive board today approved the weight categories for the men as well, and they are outlined and detailed in the press release that you should be receiving any minute," said McConnell. "The eight weight categories for the men that were approved followed actually the proposal that was put forward by AIBA for the qualification system for Tokyo." The plan will also see an increase in female competitors and a decrease in males. "So out of the 286 quota, it's 186 men and 100 women," McConnell added. An IOC session is scheduled to take place in Lausanne next week, during which its officials are due to vote on the plan.
