"Our aim is clear; we will destroy the corridor of terror and establish the corridor of peace… We are determined and focused on bringing peace back to the region," Erdogan said. Erdogan also wished Turkish military forces "great success" in their operations against US-backed Kurdish militia in northern Syria, which Ankara considers 'terrorists'. The Turkish president also emphasised that his government "has nothing against" Syrian civilians and that he hopes to bring "peace and stability" to the area. Turkey's 'Spring Peace' operation began on Wednesday with the aim of creating a 'safe zone' cleared of Kurdish forces after American forces withdrew from the region.
