"We agreed on the change for it was of a great benefit, we waited for the government to be formed, but soon after it was formed it deviated from the path it should have gone through. This government should have taken care of people’s living, their education, pure water, and see whatever is in the interest of a citizen, but it started with a very strange way," one of the protesters said. Footage shows his protesters chanting, waving Sudanese flags and blocking traffic. "The international financial establishments exploited the circumstances of Sudan and the collapsing economic situations and wanted to propose foreign solutions for stipulations, such stipulations are connected to erasing the religious values of this people, who are based on a religious Islamic heritage, so my participation comes in the context of solidarity with my brothers who are supporting Islamic Sharia," another protester said. In August, Abdalla Hamdok, a former deputy executive secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Africa, was sworn in as Sudan's first post-Omar al-Bashir prime minister and formed its first government later in September.
