Cuba: Over 3 million Cubans reportedly sign 'Hands off Venezuela' petition

Náhled

Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe Venezuelan Charge D'Affairs in Cuba Vivian Alvarado received a certificate of a reported 3.6 million Cubans who signed a petition against intervention in Venezuela, which was conducted as part of the "Hands off Venezuela" campaign. Alvarado received the certificate at the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) in Havana on Friday. "Cuba, the land of socialism and solidarity with the people of the world has once again come forward for Venezuela and its people to preserve peace," Alvarado said in a speech after receiving the certificate. "During this month in Cuba, a solidarity campaign has taken place with the massive participation of its people by collecting millions of signatures with the motto "Hands off Venezuela." It has been an antidote to the imperialist venom that pretends to take Bolivar's homeland by force, which is free and sovereign," she added. The President of the ICAP, Fernando Gonzalez, also addressed those in attendance, claiming that the "alleged humanitarian pretexts are made up, a date has been fixed to force the entry into Venezuela of alleged humanitarian aid which in itself is nonsense. It isn't possible that real humanitarian help goes along with violence or the use of weapons." Colombia: Presidents of Colombia, Chile, and Paraguay meet at Venezuelan border

Náhled

Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe Colombia President Ivan Marquez, Chilean President Sebastian Pinera and Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benitez all travelled to Cucuta near the Venezuelan border on Friday, to support the attempted delivery of humanitarian aid into Venezuela expected on Saturday. All three presidents are strong supporters of Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, who declared himself president on January 23, sparking a political crisis in the country. The Maduro government has closed its borders to prevent humanitarian aid sent by the United States and other countries from entering the country, claiming it was a biological weapon. “Members of the armed forces of Venezuela must stand on the right side of history, for the good of their people,” Colombian president Ivan Duque Marquez said, adding “for that reason, tomorrow, the world hopes they let humanitarian aid in, because blocking it is a crime against humanity.” Volunteers are expected to attempt to circumvent the blockades at the Venezuelan border and deliver food and medical supplies on Saturday. Trump says leave small force Syria

Subscribe to our channel! rupt.ly/subscribe United States President Donald Trump said the US "can leave a small force along with others" in Syria, while speaking to reporters in the Oval Office in Washington DC on Friday. Trump stressed he was "not reversing course" on the planned pull-out of US troops from the war-torn Middle Eastern nation. "You'll be hearing about the caliphate. It's 100 percent defeated. Nobody's been able to say that," he said of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL). "At the same time, we can leave a small force along with others in the force, whether it's NATO troops or whoever it might be so that it doesn't start up again," he explained. Trump also spoke about his relationship with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un ahead of their upcoming planned meeting. "We have had such a great relationship and China has helped us a lot with North Korea and with Kim Jong Un since I got to office," he said. "If I were not elected president, you would have been in a war with North Korea. We now have a situation where the relationships are good, where there's been no nuclear testing, no missiles, no rockets."
