Over 100 people leave Mexican Mormon village after massacre MEXICO CITY/ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Reuters) - More than 100 members of a U.S.-Mexican community of Mormon origin have left their homes in northern Mexico after an ambush killed nine of their number, relatives said on Tuesday. Since the massacre last week of three mothers and six children by suspected cartel gunmen, families have been streaming out of La Mora, a remote farming village in the state of Sonora, said Taylor Langford, a relative of the victims. Some of the members were leaving temporarily, others permanently, but almost all would return if security were better, said Langford, 27, who grew up in La Mora and now lives in Utah. Surveillance video officer involved shooting inside Eleven

Long Beach police have released video depicting a police shooting that killed an 18-year-old armed robbery suspect inside a convenience store in September. Three surveillance cameras captured the incident, which shows a suspect, later identified as Jordan Michael Griffin of Long Beach, wearing a mask and all dark clothing. He rushes inside a 7-Eleven store about 11:30 p.m., Sept. 19, and points a firearm at the clerk while wedging himself between two customers at the counter. Detectives follow shortly after and after a brief exchange, shoot the suspect, causing him to drop his weapon and fall to the floor. The other two customers scurry toward the back of the store while the clerk ducks behind the counter. The firearm was determined to be a BB-gun. Detectives immediately rendered aid until paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department arrived, but Griffin was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident was the first officer-involved shooting in Long Beach in 18 months. Detectives had been tracking a dark Nissan Maxima believed to have been involved in other recent robberies when it pulled up behind the 7-Eleven in the 5100 block of Pacific Coast Highway. Griffin got out of the passenger seat and went inside the store, followed by detectives. Once inside, detectives ordered Griffin to drop the firearm, but he did not and at least one officer fired at the suspect while fearing for the individuals inside the business, police said. The driver, 22-year-old Devontae Moore, remained in the vehicle and was later arrested by police. Authorities also found property tying the vehicle to the other robberies, police said. Moore has since pleaded not guilty to seven counts of robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, attempted robbery and attempted burglary, according to court records. A separate investigation was launched by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, which is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings. Long Beach police were also continuing to investigate the shooting to determine whether the detectives acted within policy, spokeswoman Jennifer De Prez said. One of the other three men in the store suffered minor injuries from a ricochet, police said. The man was treated on scene and did not have to go to a hospital. {{file t=Cda2m_1573600180}} Číst dále >>> Přeložit do en
